Mirror box, top view
This shows the assembled mirrorbox from the top down. The mirrorcell is not visible, because the mirror is in place. The floor is formed by the aperture stop annex support ring that is positioned just above the mirror. This floor also supports the dust cover, when the scope is packed for transport.
The triangles at the corners are formed by the cut-out walls, and supports in the top of the mirror box (see also cross section). Also visible are the aluminium L profiles, that connect the walls, and als for the mounting points for the trusses. Like in the secondary cage, the trusses are completely sunk inside the walls, which is in this case is necessary for leaving space to mount the alt bearings.
